Another reason would be if you an older DAC that tops out at 96 Khz, or does not offer DSD support. So why would you need a sample rate converter? If you have a large collection of 24 bit PCM and DSD albums on your hard drives, and you want to create versions for different environments, like your car, iPhone, iPad, or stream to a zone on your network that has limited capabilities. It limits output to 1 minute of audio, which I think is very fair for deciding if the software meets your needs.
